Asian Beauty Tips...

The eyes are the most enchanting Asian feature and so special attention should be paid to them.

Remember this:
black mascara and black liquid eyeliner are your best friends. If you have a fair amount of lid, then you may escape the use of eyeliners and mascara, but to enhance your almond shaped eyes, you can't do without these essential tools.

* Skin tone is a big factor when choosing hues for foundation, eye makeup and lipstick. Lighter shades will create a "washed out" look, while intense hues will add dramatic effect and bring to life the eyes and cheekbones.

* Use foundation and powder with a yellow undertone. Although many Asian women believe they need to wear pink makeup shades to counteract their natural skin tones, this creates a very unnatural, outdated look. Using yellow-based products do not make Asian women look more yellow, but rather they produce a natural, flawless look that is modern and beautiful.

Eyeshadow: The most important factor in deciding what colour and how to apply eye shadow is to take into consideration the amount of fold you have above the eye lid. If you possess a fair amount of fold, then you can boldly apply dramatic colors such as black, deep purple, deep turquoise (really stunning) and navy blue for night time wear and utilize the technique of multilayering colors. Colors that are especially flattering for daytime wear are bronze and light colours applied close to the lashes while more intense colors are blended on top.

Asian Hair: Most hair-color products on the North American market just don't work well on Asian hair, which is the thickest of all hair types. More often than not, any amount of lightening turns out brassy; even black comes out looking unnatural much of the time because it's a difficult color to match. Your best bet is to go to an experienced colorist. If you decide to try it at home, remember that thick hair tends to absorb dyes fairly quickly, and very dark hair is especially resistant to bleaching, so always do a strand test to get the timing right.

How To Get Fabulous Feet:

It's time to take off the sneakers and socks and slip your feet into a sexy pair of sandals. Here's how to make sure that your feet look terrific.

1. Soak your feet for about ten minutes.
2. Pat feet dry.
3. Clip toenails straight across. Or, if you would rather, use an emery board (but wait until toenails are completely dry).
4. Using pumice stone, remove any rough areas.
5. Massage cuticle area with a little oil or moisturizer.
6. Gently push back cuticles.
7. Apply foot lotion and massage into each foot.
8. Remove any excess lotion.
9. If you wish to apply polish follow the procedure below.
10. Put a small amount of polish on your brush; paint one stroke down the center of your nail. Your brush should hold just enough color to accomplish this. Stroke the sides of the nail and you are done.
11. Wait until polish is set (dry to the touch) and then apply the top coat. Don't skip this step as it not only adds life to your pedicure, it will protect your nails as well.
12. Sanitize all of your equipment with alcohol and when they are dry, store them away until the next manicure or pedicure.

Which soap is best?

All soap contain alkali which break up the horny top layer of skin, allowing water to penetrate more (as well as to escape). Although normal skin renews this horny layer, repeated use of soap may weaken the repair process. This can cause extreme scaling and dryness known as chapping.
Perfume added to soap makes it much more appealing to use, but has no other virtue.... So then?

The safest soap to use is the simplest kind which has no added disinfectant, and no purfume.
While on the subject, remember that detergents, which are synthetic chemical compounds, will remove grease from the skin more effectively than soap. But their actions are too harsh for regular use and they easily cause chapping.

Glow Like A Rose:

For a rosy face...

These are homemade treatments that will put a rosy glow on your face :

1. Boil fresh rose petals and use this rose water instead of plain water for your skin treatments.
2. Prepare a rose facemask by grinding a handful of petals into a paste. Apply on clean skin and leave the application on for 15 to 25 minutes. Then wash with plain water (no soap). Your complexion will be smooth and glowing.

Ways To Get Rid Of Your Pores

Pores are just a big pain, to everyone. The problem is that if you don’t treat them the right way, they will become enlarged and look even worse. Coupled with dry skin, it will make matters very unpleasant.

Fortunately, there are products out there that can minimize your pores, including makeup, which will not get rid of them, but will at least give the illusion of smaller pores.

Exfoliate:

First off, you need to use a good exfoliant. The grains in this face wash will help minimize the pores because it will polish off the dry, dead skin that causes the pores in the first place. Make sure you don’t overuse the exfoliator, as it can damage the skin if you’re too rough or you use it too often.

Get a Facial massage-facial:

Facials are another thing that can minimize/get rid of your pores. One of the most important things to look for before going for a facial, is a good facialist. Make sure you get someone who’s been in the field for a while and knows what she is doing. Facials are not only soothing and relaxing, but they treat your skin of whiteheads, blackheads, pores, pimples, and pretty much everything else that is bothering you!

Alpha and Beta Acids:

These acids exfoliate your skin to prevent dead skin cells from building up and clogging your pores. Look for products that contain salicylic acid. It will fight the sebum-packed pore, exfoliating the dead skin cells built up inside.

Makeup Fixes:

You can also minimize the appearance of your pores with a little bit of makeup. First off, you must lay off the foundation. Foundation will only make your pores look larger than they actually are. Instead, apply a blotting powder to the areas where your pores are most enlarged. The powder will diffuse the look of the pores, giving you a clean, matte look.

Use a Pore Perfecting Cream:

Find a good gel or cream aimed directly at minimizing the appearance of pores. Apply the product over the area that needs it. Let the gel/cream set for a little bit, and apply a powder over it.

Tips For Making Lipstick Stay Longer

Foundation, a lip brush, and a tissue can boost lipstick’s staying power. They cover lips with a light coat sheer foundation, which serves as a primer for color.

Define your lips with liner, and then use the liner to fill in your entire mouth. Apply lipstick with a lip brush, it helps press in and “set” the color and then blot with a tissue

Creating A Layer:

For a sheer, natural finish dip your finger in water, then into pink or red Jell-O powder; rub over lips and top with balm to create an amazing stay-put shade. You can also try layering a clear gloss over a lip stain. Look for one that is not watery. They will bleed less.

All Day Wear:

For a long-lasting color apply color and topcoat separately. Most of them work but sometimes they it feel dry and heavy.

Powder Power:

To prevent constant touch-ups, put on liner, then lipstick; dab translucent face powder over the mouth; reapply liner and lipstick. Dusting power on top of creams sets them. This trick sure works and it last long.

Makeup Tips For Flawless Look !

If you don't apply foundation before going out, you're making a mistake. Foundation, if applied well, can make your skin look soft, smooth, flawless and simply spectacular.

*
Make sure the foundation matches your skin tone.

* Do you have a sponge for applying foundation? If not, get one. It ensures an even application.

* Mix a little moisturiser in your foundation. Most skins are dehydrated even though we may not realise it. In any case, moisturiser adds a sheen to the foundation.

* Mix an equal amount of foundation and moisturiser in the palm of your hand, and wipe it over your face.

* Blend it with a damp sponge and finish off with a dusting of compact powder. And voila! You won't be able to tear your eyes away from the mirror.

TOP 10 MAKEUP TIPS...

Top 10 Makeup Tips:

Especially when we are tired or ill, our natural appearance is sometimes scary, even if under normal circumstances we are acceptable without wearing makeup. Moreover, after the age of 25, our skin needs care and discrete makeup, according to the occasion.

* Match the colors of your makeup to the colors of your clothes and to your personality, and to the moment of the day as well.

*
Take into account the color of your hair, the shape of your face, and the color of your eyes.

*
Your lip liner should not be darker than the color of the lipstick.

*
Don’t use colors which could make you look older than you are. For example light colors make you look younger.

*
Mascara can be an essential aspect of your makeup. If you don’t apply it correctly, you’d rather don’t apply it at all because it can make you look older and ridiculous if it is not applied uniformly on your eye lashes.

*
Try to use makeup based on natural ingredients, as most of the artificial cosmetics may cause skin cancer if they are used excessively.

*
If you highlighted your eyes with eye liner and eye powder, it is no use to highlight your lips too. Either your eyes or your lips should be the focus center on your face.

*
Your makeup colors may be chosen according to the season too. For example, in the cold seasons, it would be more appropriate to use cold colors like blue and green for your makeup, while in the summer warm colors like pink, red, or orange are recommended.

*
If you apply foundation don’t forget to apply it on your neck and on the visible part of your breast too.

*
If your skin is fat don’t use a cream blush, as it will make it appear fatter.

The list of tips can be never ending, as makeup is an art, after all and you must consider a lot of factors when you buy your makeup and when you sit at the dressing table, in order to apply it on your face.

MAKEUP TIPS FOR PLUS SIZE WOMEN...

Makeup is the all-consuming topic for many women. Men run it a close second, but most women enjoy discussing makeup, various formulas they've found, what works, and most important, what doesn't work. Women of all shapes and sizes are vitally concerned with finding good tips that will enable them to look their best. Plus size women are no exception. They may also have unique issues that mean their makeup application is even more critical.

It is probably a good idea to start out with a few no-nos for makeup on plus size women. Garish colors are out for any woman, but particularly plus size women. Anything that looks bad on an average size woman will be magnified on a plus size woman. Stark blush that attempts to create a hollowed-cheek look is also a bad, bad idea. It just draws attention to the fuller part of the face. Women should always strive for foundation that matches their skin, but this is crucial for plus size women. A telltale line at the jaw that is a dramatically different color from the skin on the neck makes the woman look as though she is wearing a mask.

Makeup for plus size women should do what all makeup attempts to do: accentuate the positive and camouflage the negative. With this axiom in mind, a plus size woman can put together a great look.

Since most plus size women have rounded faces, this is usually a good place to start when thinking about makeup. To re-emphasize the point, a plus size woman should choose a foundation that matches her skin as closely as possible. She should also think about a more matte finish, rather than a dewey one. Not paste-like, but more matte. This is because a plus size woman's rounded cheeks tend to catch the light, and she will look as though she is perspiring or has oily skin if she goes with a more dewey finish. This is unattractive and tends to negatively emphasize the roundness of the face.

Blush should compliment her skin and hair. It should also never be applied so that it looks artificial. Regardless of what the fashion magazines say, a darker blush below the "apples" in the cheeks does not create a slimmer face. It looks like dark blush applied in the wrong place. Take it from a woman who has tried that trick. It doesn't work. Blush should be applied to the apples of the cheeks. Smile and apply the blush to the fullest part of the cheeks.

Many plus size women want to play up their eyes and this is rarely a bad idea. However, stark colors are again, not advisable. Neither is the very heavy application of eyeshadow and liner. The trick is to emphasize the eyes, to draw the attention to them, not to imitate a raccoon. Eyeshadow should be in a color that compliments the woman's outfit. A lighter eyeshadow should go right under the brow line. This will also tend to emphasize the eye area attractively.

Eyeliner can be applied to the upper and lower lids, but be careful. Don't apply it all the way across the eye. Start in the middle and go to the outer corner of the eye. This will open the eye up and emphasize their color. Brown-black, charcoal brown and smoky blue are appropriate colors for almost any eye or hair color. A woman can also go just a little way beyond the outside of the eye on the lower lid, to create a slightly exotic look. If the woman can actually tell that's what she has done, though, she has brought the line out too far. It should be barely visible, but it will create a great look.

Lipstick pulls together a woman's whole look, regardless of size. She should think about a color that looks good, depending on the occasion. She should also be cautious of very trendy colors, such as lilac or other "fashion" colors. One example occurring to this author is of a plus size woman who wore a bluish-lilac lipstick over a neutral lipliner. The result was corpselike lips--unattractive in the extreme. Lips that are too neutral are also unattractive. They give a woman a plain, mousy appearance. A plus size woman should want color in her lips, since they will also draw the eye away from the roundness of her face. Every woman, plus size or not, should also have a great red lipstick in her makeup case. Red lipstick is the one essential cosmetic every woman should own.

Perhaps the most important makeup tip for a plus size woman is to cast out fear. She should never be afraid of having smoky eyes and sultry lips. She should not be afraid of being sexy. If her makeup is sexy, she will feel better about herself, and this will show up in her behavior. She will be sexier to those around her. And what, after all, is makeup about, if not to make us look and feel better about ourselves?

MAKE-UP TIPS FOR BROWN SKIN...

Make up tips for Brown Skin:

Brown is beautiful...

The best makeup for brown skins would be colours from pale beige to rich brown.

Dark colours need shades that will complement their skin tones.

For South-Asians:

Fair : Natural

Brown : Beige

Dark brown:Tan

Foundation and Powder Compact: Use foundations and powder compacts according to your colour. If the exact shade you would like is not available then select a shade that is closest to your neck colour and add a little distilled water to make it more translucent.

Dark circles: On dark circles apply Foundation colour which is one shade lighter than the shade applied on the face. This will make dark circles around the eyes look lighter.

Mascara : Brown mascara looks beautiful on dark colour. A black eye pencil rimming the eyes can give a stunning impression.

Eye shadow : Soft eye shadow in brown giving the winged doe-eyed look would be excellent, this should blend into the upper brow bone, from a soft brown to soft brick brown. Soft brown eye shadow used on the lower lashes would complete the entire effect

Lipsticks : Shades of maroon or brown will look good on dark skin.

Blusher : Shades in Maroon and brown will go well.

MONSOON MAKEUP TIPS

In monsoons, dense makeup has a risk of being smudged and washed out severely and so light and sheer makeup is more advisable. Use waterproof mascara, transfer-resistant lipsticks and waterproof liners and may even use waterproof foundation, if it is a must for you. Indian girls can put their 'kajal' (kohl) away until winters. Here are some tips to keep you pretty when it is raining cats and dogs:

* Wash and cleanse the face thoroughly and rub an ice cube on your face for 5 to 10 minutes to lower the sweating rate so that the makeup stays put for longer period of time.

* Women with oily skin can use astringent while women with dry to normal skin can use toner after the ice to cool and refresh the skin.

* Avoid foundation and prepare the base of your makeup using powder slightly.

* Sheer film of light brown, beige, pastel or pink cream eye shadow can be used along with a think line of eyeliner and use a coat or two of waterproof mascara.

* Soft matte lipsticks are preferable to most ladies during monsoons but you may use a soft brown or pink shade with sheer gloss.

* Do not neglect to use water-based moisturizers during rainy season to keep away the oily skin, acne and water loss due to perspiration and sweating.

* Keep your hairstyles simple and easy. Elaborate hairstyles are more difficult to manage and redo and limp damp hair do not look good with them. You may use bangs and layered hairstyles instead.

* Bright jewelry is in vogue during monsoons but this is the minimalist year, so you may opt for stone studded light jewelry.

* If you must you blush, keep it light and blend it well. Cream blush in shades of pink, peach and brown can be used.

* During this time, keep your eyebrows in shape with threading and hair gel for you cannot use eyebrow pencil during a downpour.

* Wash you hair regularly and massage your scalp regularly to keep dandruff and other hair problems out of your way.

* Denims are not for monsoons; wear light cotton fabrics, capri pants and three fourths.

* Umbrellas and raincoats are also in fashion. Buy some in cheerful happy colors.

* White and light colors can easily get muddy, so avoid them.

* Throw your leather booths and high heels at the back and wear sneakers and sandals.

TIPS TO BE FOLLOWED WHILE SELECTING MAKEUP PRODUCTS

Believe it or not, the most important ingredient in our Beautiful Skin care System is the water. But this isn't just any water ... of fungus and bacteria. A skin care system in which the water itself creates a natural resistance ... , and after rigorous tests, an unprecedented endorsement of the filtration system was given.

* Always have skin care on mind, whether you are buying products for make up or actually applying them onto your skin after you have bought them. So what you are buying is a ‘make up and skin care’ product, not just a make up product. Check the ingredients to see if it contains things that you might be allergic to. Also check if it contains high concentration chemicals that can harm your skin.

* ‘Make up and skin care’ is also about testing the products before using them. So, apply the make up on a small patch of skin e.g. earlobes and check how your skin reacts to it.

* Keep track of expiry date on your make up products and never use them beyond the expiry date. In fact some products (e.g. vitamin C based products), if not stored properly, get spoilt much earlier than the expiry date.

* Cleanliness is an important part of make up and skin care procedure. Sharpen your eye-liners regularly and keep all your makeup equipment clean at all times. You might fix a date, each month, for overhauling of your equipment. As part of cleanliness, your make up and skin care procedure should also include keeping your hair clean at all times.

* Nail care is another important aspect of make up and skin care. Use a good quality nail polish and always keep your nails clean. Once you are done with cleaning and polishing your nails, you should rub in cuticle oil at the edges of the nail.

* If you have deep-set eyes, you should use a liquid eye liner instead of a pencil one. This will prevent smudging at the deep edges of your eye-lid.

* If you have a skin disorder e.g. acne, you should not apply heavy or chemical based make up. Consult your dermatologist if you are not sure about the make up products that you can use while you have acne or other skin disorder. Never try to squeeze pimples/ acne. Remember that make up and skin care should not conflict each other.

* Use a mild make up remover (instead of just washing it away).

* Another important ‘make up and skin care’ procedure is the following golden rule: “Never sleep with your make up on”

* While applying a deodorant, make sure that you maintain the recommended distance between the nozzle and your skin (as mentioned on the deodorant pack).

* So, make up and skin care should always go hand in hand. Do not try to treat make up and skin care differently.
