TIPS FOR WHITER & BRIGHTER TEETH

Smiling Through Brighter, Whiter Teeth:

Your smile is one of the first things most people notice about you. Unfortunately, as we age, teeth can become stained or grow darker and present a less than brilliant picture to the world. There are many reasons why your teeth may not be the bright white you’d like them to be.

Some medications can cause discoloration in your teeth. Coffee, tea and certain foods can stain your teeth, and smoking will also cause yellowing of teeth, as well as having other more serious side effects to your health. Also, as you age, the outer layer of your tooth enamel is worn away, revealing the darker tissue underneath.

The first step in your search for a brilliant smile is to discover what’s caused your teeth to become discolored. Your dentist can determine the cause of discoloration, whether tooth whitening can help, and which kind of whitening procedures will be most effective.

Not all whiteners work the same way, and not all whitening products will help your smile. For instance, in general, yellowish teeth bleach well, while brown or gray toned teeth usually do not. Also, tooth whitening products will not affect bondings or fillings, so porcelain veneers or bondings, so that all your teeth will be the same color, might be best for you. Once you’ve discovered the cause of your tooth discoloration, there are several options available, from over-the-counter products to the latest in dental applications using lasers.

All toothpastes help remove surface stains, and some whitening toothpastes contain polishing or chemical agents that provide additional stain removal. But whitening toothpastes only remove surface stains. Whitening toothpastes can lighten your teeth by about one shade, while your dentist can help you go three to eight shades lighter.

Similarly, over-the-counter whitening strips and gels cannot achieve the degree of whiteness that your dentist’s products can. The concentration of hydrogen peroxide isn’t as high in over-the-counter products. Worse, many kits have acetic or citric acid as the lightening agent, which can cause damage to your tooth enamel if overused or used improperly.

The safest, easiest and most sure way to whiten your teeth is to have your dentist prescribe the best method for you, whether it’s in-office bleaching, at-home bleaching, or whitening toothpastes. Most in-office or at-home professional methods use either carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide as a bleaching agent. Impressions are taken of your teeth, from which custom trays are fabricated. You place whitening gel into the tray and ‘wear’ the tray on your teeth. The length of time can vary greatly, depending on the condition of your teeth and your body’s response to the bleaching agent.

HAIR CARE

Having lustrous and healthy hair is the dream of every woman. Beautiful hair is a must and therefore we have brought for you an entire hair care programme that will solve all your hair problems and also give you an idea as to which hairstyle will look good on you.

Washing, Combing, Drying :

First and foremost, always comb your hair gently to prevent breakage. Hair is at its weakest when wet. So never brush your hair when wet. As far as possible let your hair dry naturally. Use dryers only when you are pressed for time or when you want to set them for an occasion. Detangle your hair before you wash it. Wet hair is very fragile so brush your hair thoroughly before getting into the shower.

Oiling and shampoos :

Oil your hair at least twice a week or for a day before washing. Oil really does wonders for your hair; coating each strand and making it shine. Besides oil massage also increases the circulation in the scalp and promotes hair growth. Avoid using harsh shampoos and conditioners as they can harm your hair and make them dry. Tackle dandruff with good antidandruff shampoos. Most of all try to keep your hair clean and do not expose it to strong wind, dust and pollution. Use a scarf while on a two-wheeler.

Taking care naturally :

Do you want to have beautiful long hair, but cannot because of problems like dandruff, split-ends, greying etc which compel you to cut your hair? Well, here are some easy home recipes for good growth of hair. So get going to have hassle free bouncy hair!

1. Wash and clean a bunch of Methi leaves in water. Without adding water, add black pepper, a few drops of lemon and salt to taste and boil. Churn this in a mixer or juicer and drink this concoction. Drinking this regularly will increase hair growth.

2. Eat pieces of coconut or if you get cough because of coconut, have jaggery instead. Also include coconut in your daily food like dals, vegetables, etc.

3. Half an hour before washing your hair, rub coconut milk onto your scalp. This will also make your hair shinier.

4. Just as you massage oil, massage raw milk in your hair. Wash off after an hour.

5. Cashewnuts are very nutritious and good for your skin and also enhance hair growth.

6. Grandma's advice still holds true. At night before going to sleep, give your hair a hundred strokes with a brush. This increases the blood circulation in the scalp and promotes hair growth. However brush your hair gently for vigorous stroking will cause breakage.

7. Drink coconut water atleast twice a week. It is good for your skin, digestive system and really a miracle ingredient for your hair.

8. Heat olive oil and massage into hair and then take steam. By doing this regularly you will get rid of split-ends.

9. Make a paste of jaggery, curd, and Multanni mitti and apply on scalp an hour before shampooing to get rid of dandruff. Take this treatment once in 15 days.

ANTI-AGING TREATMENTS

Interview with Madonna's Oxygen Facialist Michelle Peck:

Everyone knows that Madonna has beautiful skin! Lately our favorite fair skinned diva has been letting the public in on one of her beauty secrets! Madonna has become so fond of her Oxygen Treatments that she keeps an oxygen machine in each of her homes, she told Harpar's Bazaar Magazine. Madonna.com sat down with Madonna's personal Oxygen Treatment Facialist to find out more about this fountain of youth!

What is an O2 Intraceutical Oxygen Treatment?

Michelle Peck: The 02 Intraceutical Treatment is what I give to Madonna when I give her what is commonly known as an oxygen facial. The treatment reduces the appearance of fine lines, improves skin tone and provides an instant firming and lift by using hyperbaric technology to saturate the skin with oxygen and infuse a rejuvenating hyaluronic acid serum.

How does a Intraceutical Oxygen Treatment work and what does it accomplish.

Michelle Peck: I begin each treatment with a product from our line called Atoxlene, it is our natural solution to fine lines, made of hexapeptides and amino acids, I infuse it into Madonna's skin using hyperbaric technology which is simply oxygen applied under pressure. I concentrate the treatment around the eyes, the nasal labial fold and between the eyebrows. Then I move on to our famous rejuvenating treatment which leaves the skin completely hydrated, plumped, glowing, tightened and lifted ready for the application of make-up. While Madonna takes exceptional care of her porcelain skin, I always recommend this treatment before & after air travel as it can be so dehydrating.

How did you and the oxygen system come to work with Madonna?

Michelle Peck: Gina Brooke is Madonna's make-up artist and is known to use the best and most innovative products on the market. Gina discovered, after intensive research, O2 Intraceuticals is unlike any other oxygen skin treatment existing today. Gina believes taking care of one's skin is the foundation to beautiful make-up. Gina introduced me and the Hyperbaric Oxygen Technology to Madonna, who has been a devoted fan of the treatment ever since!

PERFECT MANICURE TIPS FOR BRIDES

QUICK TIPS FOR THE BRIDE’S PERFECT MANICURE:

During the months leading up to your wedding, you have so many places to go and things to do. Staying perfectly groomed has never been more important, but never so difficult to achieve, because you’re busy, busy, busy. Scheduling an hour for a manicure plus travel time doesn’t always fit the time available.

Below are our tips for you to maintain your beautiful hands. Following our manicure procedure should take approximately 20 minutes weekly and will keep your hands and nails show off perfect. You’ll never hesitate when asked to show that engagement ring, wondering if your hands are show worthy.

At Home Manicure:

Remove polish and trim Apply non-acetone polish remover to a cotton ball. Wipe your nail several times from base outward toward the tip to remove all the old polish. Use an orangewood stick and cotton ball to remove old polish from crevices. Trim nails with clipper, as needed.

File & Shape File with a fine, smooth file from the side toward the center, never back and forth in two directions (that makes the nail weak). Use a buffer to flatten any ridges and smooth out areas.

Soak – Use a mild liquid soap in warm water. Fill a small bowl and soak for around four minutes. This will loosen any remaining dirt or polish remover. Don’t overdo the soak however; this can weaken your nails.

Soften Cuticles – massage cuticle cream into your cuticles and soak for three minutes. Now your cuticles are soft enough to push back without damage. Use a cuticle pusher to move cuticles and wipe your nail with a clean towel.

Trim Cuticles trim any hard hangnails with a sharp clipper, being careful not to damage any healthy tissue.

Polish Apply polish remover one final time. Apply base coat to help polish last longer. Dry base coat, then apply two coats of polish. Stroke down the center of the nail and then stroke once on each side. Finish with a topcoat.

Reapply topcoat every other day to make it last.

Items to Stock in Your Manicure Kit:

Fingernail Polish Remover, Non-Acetone

Cotton Balls

Orangewood Stick

Smooth Fine File

Nail Buffer

Cuticle Cream

Cuticle Pusher

Nail Clipper

Nail Polish - base coat, top coat and 3 colors to compliment your wardrobe.

Another quick tip is to keep all of your manicure items together in a cosmetic bag that is stocked and ready to pull into duty at a moment’s notice. Consider a cosmetic bag that has two compartments, one for a manicure kit and the other for strictly cosmetics.
